On Thursday 5th December a select band of Yr 9 pupils accompanied Mr Carter to Marlborough College. Over the next hour they were witness to explosions, mountains of foam and stereotypical steaming scientific apparatus, as Tim Harrison from the University of Bristol delivered a fantastic lecture on ‘The Gases of the Air’. It was both instructive and entertaining and gave pupils the opportunity to see new practical demonstrations, as well as witness some already seen ones. These were on a much larger scale, in a grander setting and with an almost festive feel.

Records indicate that the Egyptians mined peridot on a lost (re-discovered in 1900) island in the Red Sea. One of its distinctive characteristics is that their colour is the same in both natural & artificial light which led to their association with great beauty. #PVSFactoid https://t.co/IKI6ApEEYi
