What is the Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to schools by the Government to help support disadvantaged and vulnerable students. Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium Grant as they see fit, and there is no requirement for the grant to be spent on individual students – rather the emphasis is on initiatives that are particularly focused on closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged students and their peers.
Which students are included?
Students who are counted when assessing a school’s Pupil Premium grant are those who:
– are Looked After Children (LAC)
– have been adopted from care (AFC)
– receive Free School Meals (FSM) now or in the past 6 years (FSM6)
– have a parent in the Armed Services
The links below show how we are using this additional funding at Pewsey Vale School.

Recovery Premium
Recovery Premium is allocated to schools by the government for each Year 7 pupil who does not reach the expected standard in reading and maths at Key Stage 2.
At Pewsey Vale School we intend to allocate our recovery premium funding based on the number of students who did not meet national expected standards in KS2 SATS (scaled score <100).
The funding is designed to support pupils with their literacy and numeracy such that the GAP between pupils is narrowed over time.
Here at Pewsey Vale School, we use the funding to deliver intervention sessions to those pupils who need additional support. These are small group sessions that are delivered in literacy and numeracy.
