Our Mission
Thriving Through Venture provides volunteer programmes for young people in the UK, that stimulate a positive mindset, and that develop transferable practical and vocational skills, alongside supporting local communities as well as other communities in developing countries.
Objectives:
Thriving Through Venture has three distinct objectives
Core Values:
Thriving Through Venture's core values are:
Project Evaluation:
Each year’s programme is formally evaluated in terms of the impact it has on:
Participants from each year’s programme are encouraged to be involved in subsequent year’s programmes, e.g. mentoring and local volunteering. They will be offered membership to ‘Thriving Through Venture’ in order to maintain longer-term contact and follow up.
We work with UK Government, Health Services and other voluntary organisations to explore how we can expand the delivery of this type of programme, to contribute to addressing the challenges facing our young people as they find their place in the world
Thriving Through Venture values collaboration and the huge contribution that partners and interested parties can make, to make our programme it's very best. We therefore work and consult with organisations, groups, individuals, both in the UK and in The Gambia
Our Programme
The Thriving Through Venture Identities and Communities Programme supports the development of identity on a personal, local and global level. The Programme encourages participants to consider their identity and in particular seek to provide a sense of connectedness with their local community and the wider world.
The Identities and Communities Programme is delivered through a series of three residential weekends and a 2-week residential project in The Gambia, West Africa.
During the residential weekends and the residential project, the participants will investigate self-image through photography workshops; they will also study music and the impact it has on shaping communities through drumming workshops.
The third tier to the Programme’s structure is a research topic, chosen specifically by the participants, looking at local action on global issues, with the possibility of the opportunity to present their findings to Parliamentary Groups and Governmental Committees up at the House of Commons. Historically participants have looked at agriculture and mango production, and migration and passage of young Gambians over to Europe.
