The Music department really had a very busy first term. First I would like to congratulate the year 10’s on a marvellous performance at Presentation evening. They really pulled out all the stops to show us what they are capable of. Well done, girls!
In term 4, the Ukulele club started rehearsing on a Wednesday afternoon and we are all very excited to hear their first public performance at the Carol Service on the 19th of December. Other ensemble groups include a vocal ensemble and a ‘little orchestra’, all hard at work to perform and accompany the congregation at the Carol Service.
In class, the year 7’s has been learning about traditional music notation as well as Graphic Notation, while the year 8’s have been trying to recreate the famous ‘Crazy Frog’ dance tune from the 80’s on the keyboards. The year 9’s are currently learning about the tango (the music!) and some students have managed to compose their own 8-bar Tango using Muse Score. Well done!
Overall it has been a very successful first 3 months and I am inviting anyone to come and join either the singing, ukulele and/or orchestral ensemble. It is not only fun, but very rewarding.
